It is normal for the skin to form fine lines and wrinkles as one grows older. Although it is impossible to stop the aging process, there are some preventative measures you can take for your skin to stay healthy. Botox is one of the leading anti-aging methods – it uses a toxin called onabotulinumtoxinA to temporarily prevent muscle movement. Considering that Pasadena Botox is a neurotoxin that affects your facial muscles, it should not be taken lightly. Furthermore, as with any cosmetic treatment, it is best to be educated so that you make an informed decision. Below are facts you should know before Botox treatment.

There is no right age to get Botox

Most people who get Botox injections are middle-aged to older men and women who want to eliminate their wrinkles. However, this treatment can also be an anti-aging preventative since it freezes your muscles and controls facial expressions. Today, young people in their 20s are regularly receiving Botox injections to prevent aging signs. There is no specific age that dermatologists and plastic surgeons recommend for Botox treatment. Rather, they urge clients to evaluate their skin health, goals, aging genetics, and beauty preference when thinking about Botox treatment.

Aging doesn’t occur suddenly; symptoms usually develop over time and at a slow rate. Therefore, addressing skin health and aging at a young age can keep wrinkles at bay.

Consultation is important

Like any other treatment, it is essential to have an initial consultation with your doctor to establish what Botox entails and whether the treatment is suitable for you. A consultation session also offers a chance for you to ask any questions regarding the treatment. Your doctor explains to you the ins and outs of the procedure including what you to expect during and after treatment.

Possible side effects

Botox is a safe treatment but it can be dangerous when performed by an inexperienced person. The injections need to be placed precisely to avoid side effects, so you need to choose your doctor carefully. When administered incorrectly, the toxin can spread to other body parts causing symptoms like vision problems, muscle weakness, trouble speaking or swallowing, breathing problems, and loss of bladder or bowel control.

Results don’t last a lifetime

Results are usually noticeable within three days but it can take up to two weeks before the full effects kick in. How long the effects last is differ for everyone with the average being four months. However, results can last for as little as three months or as long as six months. It also depends on the treated areas and number of units used; the quality of the Botox also plays a significant role. Any complication after Botox treatment is cannot be undone. You will have to wait for the neurotoxin to wear off before the adverse reactions fade away.

Aftercare is important

You can resume normal activities right after Botox treatment but you will need to avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours.

If you wish to get rid of your fine lines and wrinkles, book an appointment with your provider at Sasaki Advanced Aesthetic Medical Center for Botox treatment to take years off your face.
